Susan,

Great Website!!!

Just a quick note to say thanks for keeping your web page so up to date and informative.  I did a lot of surfing on the web when we were looking for a puppy and was most impressed with your website and how quick you responded
to our questions. (I see it is rated #1...congratulations).   It's fun to see weekly pictures of the puppies and it makes it easy to share photos with family and friends.  We are looking forward to our next meeting with Token's puppies and picking out "Cooper".  Thanks again.

Hello Susan,

My wife and I have been looking at the site almost every day since Lucee had her puppies. We really enjoy how you continually update the pictures (with both Lucee's and Token's pups).  It really gives us a chance to watch the puppies grow.  We are really looking forward to be able to come and pick our puppy out.  My wife of course wants all of them.  He is going to be such a great addition to our home.  You definitely get my vote for having the best golden site.  There is so much good information to look through and of course the great pictures.  Thank you for keeping us informed about the puppies.

Dear Susan,

Thank you so much for letting us visit Maze on Saturday. It was very special for us to be able to visit the mother of our puppy.  We also enjoyed seeing Token and her new puppies - our daughter Jaime really enjoyed that!  We were very impressed by Maze's behavior, we could tell that she was a very well-trained and loving dog.

We are looking forward to hearing from you when Maze gives birth - we are thinking about her, and hope all goes well.

Ken, Linda and Jaime Urbiha

P.S.  We have been "surfing" your website, and have found lots of good information and tips!

My Dog, Chief

My aunt owns a dog kennel for people that go on vacation.  She cleans the dogs’ kennels, feeds them, and waters them.  Sometimes I go to her house and help her.  I like to go to her house because I like dogs.  Sometimes my cousins come with me.

The last time I went to her house, two of her dogs had puppies.  The moms' names are Maze and Reba.  Maze’s puppies are gold and Reba’s puppies are red.  My dad liked the puppies so we picked out one of Maze’s puppies.  We picked out a boy, but we couldn't take him home yet.  We had to wait for six more  weeks.

When we were going home, I got car sick.  I also missed our new puppy.  We decided to call him Chief.  It was a long six weeks, but finally, Chief got to come home.  We met my aunt in Tomah, WI to pick him up.  I was so excited. I had a new collar, two bones, a leash, a ball, and other toys for him.

When we got him home, our other dog, Sadie didn't like him very much.  Chief thought that Sadie was his mom and tried to drink milk from her.  Sadie didn't like that so she growled at him.  It took a long time for Sadie to like Chief.  Now, Sadie likes him and they play together outside.

Chief eats like a pig.  He gets bigger and stronger everyday.  My dad trains Chief everyday.  He wants him to be a hunting dog because my dad likes to hunt.

I love to go visit my aunt.  She lets me help with the dogs.  I'm glad she gave me a puppy, but he is a lot of work!

Susan,

Just wanted to update you on Ginger.  She was spayed couple weeks ago and did fine.  Just getting ready to start another obedience class with me.  She is a joy.  Very happy, friendly pup.  And a lot of company--especially since my English Setter died recently.

Thanks again for such a great dog!

Hi Susan,

Thank you much for the opportunity to enjoy an afternoon like today!  It was great to see what Flash can really do, and I'm so proud of him.  He's always doing things to please me.  He far exceeded my expectations in the fun games this afternoon.  It was great to see what he can do.  I'm really tired, being outside in the fresh air was so enjoyable, and Flash crashed early, but I had to make myself stay up so I wouldn't be up at 1 AM.

Say, I was thinking today, with your digital camera.........................I'm thinking of Christmas pictures to make Christmas cards to send to my family and friends.  Would you consider taking pictures in late october or early november of Flash and I for Christmas?  I need a different Christmas idea, so I'll be thinking of some different ideas to take pictures of for Christmas, and if you don't mind being our photographer, we'd greatly appreciate it.

You know, I sure loved Herbie, and he was an exceptional dog, even for a greyhound.  No one can truly compare Herbie and Flash.  Flash is a jack of all trades kind of dog.  What I mean is, he's my therapist, he's my friend and companion, he's my personal assistance, he's my doctor too!  When I hurt he licks me trying to heal me.  He's my child, he's my guardian angel...........uh oh, I feel some creative writing coming on...................will have to email you that one later.  He's all dog, he's so versatile and functional, so helpless and yet helpful............what can I say!  I love the dog and everything about him.  He's patient while I fumble around making mistakes trying to learn.

Looking around into all the other goldens, Flash has a look in his eyes which is so sweet and kind and gentle and heartwarming..........and I don't know what other words to describe it, yet it is more.  I couldn't find that look in any other golden I saw this afternoon.  He definitely had an overall look unlike the other goldens.

Even though he was so excited, you can just see the beauty in his stature in his alertness to things.  He truly is a magnificent golden!  In his excitement, he still was more in tune to me than he had been previously such as last October.  But then, we've done a lot of work and play together since then also.  It's been wonderful for me to watch this continual development between him and I.  And it's nice that me, being so inexperienced and not knowing much of what I'm doing, still manage to see such ongoing progress in what I am struggling to teach him.

The comments I hear from everyone all the time when we walk around town are:
"You must give him a bath every day, he looks so clean."
"Where's your dog?" People now expect that when they see me, they see my dog also.
"What a beautiful dog, how often do you groom him?"
    "He's so well behaved."

Everyone can't resist petting Flash, even when he's working.  People whom we don't know will bring their children up to pet Flash, even though we've never met before.  I take that opportunity to encourage children to pet him on his back.  When kids want to pet Flash, I always tell them to ask one of their parents first.  When we go by the Bear Buddies Day Care, the small children outside playing stop to see Flash.  Now when we walk by there, the adult caregivers encourage talk about dogs, working dogs and what they do, and they know by his vest that he is working.

The principal at the school introduces Flash to the new teachers as "the school mascot". One of the teachers at the school always invites us to visit her class anytime.  When we visit, we're probably there 10 minutes max in the classroom.  She also invites us in to talk to her class every year about service dogs, and now that Flash knows more, we can demonstrate more of what he can do.  The kids in her class this past year would tell other kids in their school what Flash does, and explain to the younger students what you do when you see Flash with his working vest on.  That's pretty cool to hear when you walk by.  A couple of times a year, we get to go visit all the classrooms to see the kids.  It's been really fun.  Now the teacher has told me that we should come for our first visit this school year right after Labor Day.  I will also be volunteering at the school listening to  he smaller children read.  Flash will come with as part of his training.  On the job training has been really good for both of us.

Anyway, this is only part of our life now!  Thanks again, and hope you sleep well tonight.

Susan:

Thank you for the invite - We are planning to attend the Fun Day and have Tori participate in the puppy games.

By the way, Tori just completed her first set of puppy training classes last night.  To move to the advanced puppy level, the dogs must pass a proficiency test that includes healing, sit stay, down stay, and come when called.  Tori earned 113 of a possible 120 points and earned first place in the competition.  Now, it is on to more advanced obedience training and preparation for her first fall in the field.

Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday.
Thanks, Joe

NOTE:  Tori is a daughter of Fancy and Cappy.
