In 1994 Bill and Judy Landau sat down one evening and listed all of the attributes that they wanted in a Golden Retriever.  They decided that they wanted a male that had a great attitude, basically looked like a golden and had a great work ethic.  Little did they know that everyone else wanted the same thing and that they all shared their “wish list”.  After months of talking with breeders and handlers, they were getting a little depressed about their choices.  It appeared that you could get either a show dog or a field dog …..a dual golden was atypical and rare.

At that point they met and talked with Glenda Manucy from Tallahassee, Fl.  She was very professional and to the point.  She bred for both looks and ability and would sell them a dog only if they gave it a good home, put an obedience title and a field title on him and probably get some breed points.  Bill had never done any field work, but he had put a UD on an older golden.  Glenda invited Bill to her farm and demonstrated what field work was all about and after that time he was hooked.

“Mr. Shine” as he is called, has always, since he was a puppy, commanded respect from all handlers – professional and amateurs alike.  He has that special gait as he approaches the line to let you know that he can and will do the job.  He received his WCX just under 1 year of age doing a land triple and water double, thus receiving the coveted Faye Simpson Award given to the most outstanding dog on Saturday and Sunday.

He is bold, smart, aware, quick, learns easily, has high drive and has since earned his Master Hunter Title, CDX, HRCH, UH and is a member of the HRC 500 PT Club for points earned competing in HRC events. He has also qualified for the Master National six years in a row. He Qualified at the 2003 Master National.  Landaus are very proud of him and everyone is always in awe of his ability.  He has brought them many wonderful hours of enjoyment and excitement in their past nine and one half years with him, with many more to come.
