We received "Baby" as a wedding present at the request of my husband, Steve.  He had hunted with "Beau" and his companion, Nick Travaglio and had always wanted a retriever of his caliber.  A mating was arranged with a Frisbee bred female owned by another friend, Rick Nelson, (they didn’t know it would be in the passenger seat of Nick’s truck.)  At six weeks old, we went to pick out our pick of the litter, but she turned the tables on us and she did the picking instead.  While the others sat in the whelping box, she crossed the garage and put her foot on Steve’s and it was love at first sight.

She has always been the kind of dog that never needed much training to do what you expected of her.  No trashing the house, no tearing up the yard.  Loved birds, eager to please and a personality that glowed.  There was never a person that she met that wasn’t instantly a friend.  She was bred to Aslan the Lionhearted JH CDX WCX CGC 4 times.  Those breedings produced many wonderful family companions, enthusiastic hunting dogs, beautiful, intelligent, and great dispositioned pups.

At 13 ½ years old, we are not sure how much longer "The Baber" will be with us, we only know that there will never be another like her.  Her days are now spent, doing rolls in the snow, (about a dozen each time), keeping the garage kitties in line and making sure we do our daily leg lifts by always napping where we want to walk.  Love ya "Baber".
