Hi Susan,

This October Abby and I spent 2 weeks living in northern Minnesota at the hunting cabin, vacationing and Grouse hunting. She has become a very good upland bird dog and needs very little direction. When I want her to do something I just whistle and she reads my mind and does exactly what I want with no more direction than a short whistle or a hand signal. Abby counts Grouse very well and doesn't stop until she has flushed all the Grouse in a covey. She enjoyed country living and spent lots of time outdoors.

Becky and Abby went to a TDX test on November 12th and now she has a new TDX title!  The test was at Burnidge Forest Preserve in Elgin, IL held by Weimaraner Club of Northern Illinois.

A Note from Becky Johnson:

Abby started her track like a "pro". There was no way that I could tell where the track went. The field was full of deer trails, truck tracks and previous tracking tests and practice days. She stayed on top of the track most of the way. There was only a couple of times where she had trouble. They had to deal with wind direction and the wood barrier that was in front of her. She was able to figure those out like the tracking dog she is. It was a great test put on by a great club.

Abby finished her CD with 3 first place ribbons.  Her scores were 195, 191, and 193.  Abby enjoys working, and Becky and Abby are now working on Open and Agility.

Becky and Abby went to Kansas City, MO on Saturday and ran Abby in her first TD test. She passed with flying colors.

Sunshine Abby's Morning Ray TD WC

We had Abby in her first WC on Saturday.  In spite of only having a frozen duck in her mouth one time before the test Abby did a very good job.  She marked all birds perfectly.  The pigeons were brought to heal and delivered to hand.  The ducks were very new to her, she brought them all the way back but dropped them at my feet.  She must have thought about that in her sleep, because the next day she delivered them to hand perfectly.  She will be busy hunting now for the next month.  Becky plans to try to get her into a TDX test yet this fall also.
